Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap season with a triumph at the all-female Athlos event in New York on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured bronze at the global championships recently, excelled in an outstanding victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this season so it was probably less of a struggle for me to go out there and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The women-only meet filled the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis Ohanian, was present to award the winners with their crowns.

Last year's winners took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The competition also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, finishing in 4:17.78.

American Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from the recent Paris Games, won the 100m and 200m double.
