The January transfer market is typically a period of significant rumour and possible big-money transfers. Numerous high-profile stars find themselves connected to moves away from their current clubs. This article explores some of the top figures who could be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the player available, indications are a significant move is close. The 25-year-old possesses a contract with a £65 million buy-out clause applicable for a short period at the start of the month. Latest reports indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his signature. Other suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative options, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late bid.

The English centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal set to run out in the close season, this represents the London club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, such as Manchester City and several European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

This Wales winger has had starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the club's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the North London club would be open to a sale for the correct valuation, thought to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

R. Neves

The Portuguese playmaker could be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a possible opportunity. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected to the player. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. After lost his place and had surgery, a winter departure looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the keeper.

Juventus are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term contract but are in a race to retain one of Europe's brightest prospects.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Dutch midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ first team. The teenager is heavily expected to make a major transfer in January.
